Brianna and Billy met on Halloween 2021, when Brianna hosted a party to celebrate her favorite holiday. Billy was convinced by friends (including wedding officiant Katie Rudy and groomsman Nate Rudy) to attend with bridesmaid Samantha Caggiano and her husband Steve. That night, Brianna and Billy connected, talking about the film "Promising Young Woman", the show "Twin Peaks", and the album "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel.
Shortly after the Halloween party, Brianna and Billy went on their first date at Rex at the Royal. It was the first of many meals enjoyed together. Before long, they had planned a trip to the Pacific Northwest, where they visited filming locations from "Twin Peaks" - the show they talked about on the very first night they met. Billy also won over Ruth (who was once Brianna's cat, but who is now very much Billy's cat as well) with catnip and treats.
In August 2022, Billy moved in with Brianna and Ruth - into the same apartment where he and Brianna met for the first time. In April 2023, Billy proposed at Brianna's favorite bookstore, Head House Books, in Society Hill, Philadelphia.
